Introduced to the public at the New York Auto Show, the 2019 Hyundai Tucson compact crossover utility vehicle (CUV) turned plenty of heads with its fresh new styling and impressive range of standard features, all a significant upgrade from the 2018 Hyundai Tucson. Let's take a closer look at the stunning new model:

Interior and Exterior Styling

On the exterior of the 2019 Tucson a new signature cascading grille is a key element in the redesigned front fascia, which also features new styling of the headlights and daytime running lights. At the rear, the tail gate was similarly redesigned with new tail lights. The existing 17-inch and 19-inch wheels have been redesigned while an all-new 18-inch wheel will be introduced.

The interior features a completely redesigned center stack and instrument cluster, while the panel vents and rearview mirror are also new designs. Other features that can't be found on the 2018 Hyundai Tucson model include a standard electronic parking brake and available rain-sensing windshield wipers, second-row USB chargers, and Qi wireless smartphone charging pads to reduce that tangle of cords. And make sure you take a look at the revised available leather seats.

Powertrain

The 2019 Hyundai Tucson includes a revised engine lineup that offers drivers more power. The two engines offered are a 2.0 L direct-injected four-cylinder engine producing 164 horsepower and 151 lb-ft of torque, and a 2.4 L direct-injected four-cylinder engine developing - 181 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque. The 2.0-liter engine is standard in the Value and SE trims and the 2.4 L engine powers the SEL, Sport and Limited trims. Both are coupled to a six-speed automatic transmission that offers SHIFTRONIC manual shifting mode and includes an overdrive lock-up torque converter for improved fuel economy at highway speeds.

Safety and Security

Now standard equipment for the 2019 Hyundai Tucson is a suite of safety and security features typically found at no extra cost on much more expensive vehicles. These standard safety features include Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist and Lane Keeping Assist and an automatic emergency braking system that come standard on all trim levels. Available active safety and driver-assist systems include Pedestrian Detection, Surround View Monitor, High Beam Assist, and Smart Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go.

Connectivity and Infotainment

Many of the biggest highlights of the new Tucson include connectivity and infotainment features. A shark fin antenna now feeds the seven-inch Display Audio system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity is standard equipment across all trim levels. Also available, on Value trims and higher, is a complimentary three-year subscription to Blue Link services.
